The internationally known trombonist Torbjorn Sunde opens our "Jazz Series" with a wonderful production. Titles like Cole Porters " Love for Sale " or Gershwins " But not for me " were new arranged and played in by his octet at the studios in Oslo and mastered à la K&Carte. No discussions, no back and forth - everyone has done his job and knew the focus of work - a real fun. The result documents: Jazz lives, also in the new millennium - international! And only one remains us: Thanks to Torbjorn and his octet! The K&K is very proud to present this Production! And you: Have much fun when hearing!

Josef-Stefan Kindler & Andreas Otto Gimminger

Torbjørn Sunde has belonged to the elite of jazz-trombonists in Scandinavia for more than 25 years. Already in 1975 he toured all over Europe and recorded albums on ECM with Terje Rypal, as Rypdal’s “star sideman” like Steve Lake wrote in Melody Maker (’76). Since then he’s worked with international artists like: Rickie Lee Jones, Dr. John, Joe Cocker, Randy Crawford, Vinnie Calaiuta, Mezzoforte, Jan Garbarek, Palle Mikkelborg, Bugge Wesseltoft, Nils Petter Molvær, Manolo Badrena.
As a freelancer Sunde has played on hundreds of recordings, TV shows, commercials, tours and at the Olympics in Lillehammer 1994. He won a Norwegian Grammy in 1989 with the mini-bigband “Oslo 13” feat. Nils Petter Molvær and Jon Balke. Sunde’s debutalbum “Meridians” was nominated as one 1998’s best albums in Norway’s biggest newspaper “Aftenposten”. In May 2001 he played leadtrombone and was feat. as a solist with The EBU Jazz Orc. in Amsterdam.

About the Edition:
It´s cold outside and we must go... because in accordance with our announcement in the Newsletter of the autumn 1998 we search for the "real jazz" - always with the question: Where is the Chet?

Three Years later:You know: Some things need some time. Investigations in the secret, search in hidden corners - back to the roots participates the motto: Jazz in Clubs - sometimes hot and sometimes smart, but allways - smooth... cause, Baker, Miles & Mulligan did simply performe that, what all jazz-musicians like to do, but doesn't: Playing swing, with and for good Friends - hot music & High Heels after!

In the scene of Oslo we make our first hit, and about this production we think: That´s jazz! - nothing else...
